Total Quality and Six Sigma practices expand standards of excellence

The Gerdau Management System seeks to develop ever higher levels of excellence in its manufacturing, commercial, environmental and management processes, striving to set benchmarks in all areas of the Group's activities.
The Group operates with decentralized structures called cells, and with a focus on the satisfaction of external and internal customers. Following these principles, Gerdau offers client-focused products and services, based on the concepts of Total Quality.
The constant improvement of results is achieved through the PDCA method, which encompasses all aspects of the cycle of activities from planning (Plan) through execution (Do) and monitoring (Check) to corrective action (Act).
The increased use of Six Sigma methodologies, which represent the highest level of process management, has brought greater productivity margins and operating efficiency to Gerdau.
Information technology is also crucial to Gerdau's increasing performance. The group's information platform, based on networks running ERP and web environments, allows the updating and exchange of information in real time, giving everyone from executives to plant staff a clearer picture of the Group's processes.
The Market Information System (SIM) plays an important role in the commercial area, following the market, predicting demand, and managing the performance of the sales force. This allows the fine-tuning of customer service and the strengthening of the preference for the Gerdau brand.
With this vision, Gerdau builds its future on the analysis of the global scenarios and specific steel-making scenarios that can generate new challenges for its place in the market.
