Each year, we perform technological upgrades in order to reach increasingly lower emission rates and optimize the use of natural resources in the productive process. We know that the success of our business is also related to our performance in the environmental area.

Following this principle, investments of US$ 30.8 million were made in 2003, practically twice as much as in the previous year, in continuous equipment upgrades and environmental awareness programs for employees and the communities where we operate in the Americas.
