Preservation of green areas in Gerdau mills

The Gerdau Group preserves 7.4 thousand hectares of native forest and green belts near its mills.

In 2003, Gerdau Cosigua (state of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) completed the Atlantic Forest Project, developed in partnership with the Federal Rural University of Rio de Janeiro to map the species of flora and fauna in a 300-hectare area belonging to the mill.

In the Jacksonville (United States) unit, we initiated the reforestation of a 12-hectare area located inside the mill with the planting of native trees and plants.
