In Uruguay, Gerdau Laisa has doubled efforts to improve product quality with the creation of quality control circles composed of employees from different areas who have shown to have a vision of the process. In addition, Gerdau Laisa achieved solid results with a 17% reduction in the number of bars lost per number of bars rolled.
In Chile, steel production at Gerdau AZA surpassed the goals established for the year. In the industrial area, the highlights were an 18% reduction in electric furnace stoppages and the improved efficiency of the rolling mills at the Renca and Colina units, especially in relation to productivity – with increases of 3% and 14%, respectively.
In Argentina, Sipar finished the year with improved performance at both the wire rod and the bar and profile rolling mills. In all industrial areas, productivity was increased by 47% (ton/man/year).
