Gerdau Ameristeel is the leading long steel producer in Canada. We operate two steel mills which produce rebar, structural beams, profiles and bars, and two joint ventures: one manufactures elevator guides, and the other, superlight I beams for the industrial market. A third steel mill, Gerdau Ameristeel MRM Special Sections, manufactures specialty rolled products. In Canada, scrap is collected and processed in seven recycling facilities. Gerdau Ameristeel produced a total of 1.1 million metric tons of steel in 2003 in Canada.
