Gerdau steel is present in people's lives in many different ways, not all of which are apparent: our steel can be found in the structure of homes, airports, hospitals, hydroelectric power plants and shopping centers. It is a part of telephone and energy transmission towers, cars, household appliances and agricultural machinery and accessories. In addition, Gerdau steel is used as an industrial matrix for the production of a range of consumer and capital goods. It is found in the agricultural sector, in wires and associated products. Finally, Gerdau steel is a primary component for the production of nails, used for a variety of applications.
The work of specialized teams in each of the main economic segments – civil construction, industry and agriculture – contributes to the businesses of our customers and anticipates their needs. To guarantee brand loyalty, the sales force monitors market satisfaction levels through systematic surveys.
In 2003, Gerdau Group sales were 32.7% higher than the volume sold during the previous year, totaling 12.1 million metric tons of steel products. This performance is the result of the consolidation of new units in North America and of the operation at full capacity of the Ouro Branco (Minas Gerais, Brazil) mill.
