An investment in the quality of life and the personal accomplishment of each one of our employees and their families
In 2003, the Gerdau Foundation celebrated its 40th anniversary. During these years, its actions have broadened in scope, taking in activities in the areas of health, education, housing and social assistance. The foundation provides funding for activities such as scholarships, the purchase and renovation of homes, leisure areas in the units, medical care and prescription drug subsidies, assisting a total of 40,000 people throughout Brazil, including employees and their families.
In the field of health, the Gerdau Foundation assisted 27,700 people in 2003.
A total of R$ 20.3 million in financing was made available through a rotating fund. Of this value, R$ 11 million were destined for the purchase and renovation of employees' homes; R$ 5.7 million for university scholarships for employees and their children and R$ 3.6 million for various social assistance activities.
At the Ouro Branco steel mill and the Gerdau Açominas administrative headquarters in Belo Horizonte (state of Minas Gerais), investments in the area of health reached 12.3 million people.
