Free customer training programs brought together
more than 35,000 people in Brazil in 2006,
fostering the development of civil construction,
manufacturing and agriculture
The Gerdau Group believes that it must know the
business of its customers as well as its own. With
this conviction, Gerdau works to identify customer
needs and develop intelligent solutions that strengthen
its position as an outstanding supplier in the international
steel industry. The Group carries out satisfaction
surveys, establishes partnerships for product
development and customer relationship programs
to improve and define the priorities of each
market sector.

There are many examples of this. In Brazil, the Group
fosters the development of its customers' businesses
by offering free training programs, which include
everything from technical information on how to
broaden the applicability of steel products, tools
to increase productivity, practices to optimize
financial management as well as marketing and
work safety concepts. In 2006, training was provided
for more than 35,000 professionals in the civil
construction, manufacturing and agricultural sectors.
In the specialty and long steel sectors, as well as
at Gerdau Açominas, the Gerdau Group carries out
customer surveys that demonstrate high satisfaction
rates and preference in terms of quality, technical
assistance, logistics and sales service.
Getting closer to customers and improving customer
service was the objective of a new sales model
developed in 2006 by the Gerdau Group at the Brazil
Long Steel Business Operation. The new system
provides personalized attention to end-users.
In addition, various products are being developed
that allow important gains in the production chain (see Business performance and investments).
