In 1999, the Gerdau Memorial Documentation and Information Center was established in order to bring together documents and information about the trajectory of the Gerdau Group. Located in the Group’s headquarters (in Porto Alegre, Brazil), it now has an inventory of approximately 50 thousand items, including historical objects, as well as textual design, audiovisual and electronic documents. It is involved in the areas of documentation management, historical research and information dissemination. It supports various company activities and gives information on the company’s history, in addition to contributing to the understanding of the steel market and the trajectory of the organization, it is also continuously seeking to record history at the time it occurs.
