The Gerdau Aços Especiais Piratini is the specialty steel business unit of Gerdau Group and produces engineering steels, stainless steels and tool steels for applications that demand materials with chemical composition, restricted mechanical and metallurgic properties.
The engineering steels are used in the machining , cold forging, hot-forging and cold drawing processes. They are utilized mainly in the manufacturing of auto parts for steering and suspension systems, power trains, gears and axles of speed boxes and engines.
The tool steels are used in the manufacturing of sawing tools, die tools to plastic and metal injection as well as to forging dies.
The stainless steels are used in the machining, forging and cold drawing processes. They are widely used in the manufacturing of parts and accessories for the oil, chemical, food, odontological and medical industry.
