ne of the environmental initiatives of Sipar, in Argentina, is the Home Plastic Waste
Management Program, started in December 2005. The project involves the donation
of PET bottle collecting containers for a neighborhood of Perez, in the province of Santa Fé,
where the unit is based.
The initiative will help about 500 people. The containers will be sited at different points in the
neighborhood, including schools, public squares and churches. The community will convert the
money collected from the sale of the bottles into social benefits, such as the purchase of
books for the local library.
The project is part of the Neighborhood Improvement Program developed by the federal
government. The initiative includes the paving of streets, building of low-income housing and
creation of public squares, which will also be supported by Sipar. |
