ocated in Araçariguama (São Paulo), Gerdau São Paulo began operations in November 2005. A R$ 500 million investment, this is the newest Gerdau Group facility in Brazil.
The steel mill has an annual production capacity of 900,000 metric tons of steel. By the second half of 2006, a new rolling mill, capable of producing 600,000 metric tons of rebar per year, will come on line. The unit has already generated 400 direct jobs and 2,000 indirect jobs.
One of the features of Gerdau São Paulo is the extreme care that is being taken in relation to the environment. In all, R$ 90 million has been invested in environmental measures as part of this project. |
